Hmm..where do I start? Ok, today something has been confirmed for me, something that I have known for a while. Healthcare in this country sucks! It is the worst. I can't understand why one of the wealthiest..(well probably not anymore) countries in the world can have such a horrible healthcare system. Two weeks ago I had Strep throat and I had the worst time trying to get treated, I couldn't get an appointment with my "primary" care doctor, ended up sitting in the ER for hours. I had a follow up with an Ear Nose & Throat doctor who was a total quack. Today I went to my dental clinic because my tooth was killing me. I get there at 9 a.m and I am told that they are no longer taking any walk-ins. At this point I'm a little confused because I called yesterday to make sure that I would not need an appointment, I was told I didn't if it was an emergency. It was definitely an emergency!!
I'm told to come back in the afternoon around 1:30 p.m. I get back there around 1:00 p.m. and I sit and sit and sit and sit and sit. To make matters worse the dental clinic is in the same area as the pediatric clinic. So now I'm sitting there for hours with a toothache listening to crying kids for hours! I leave there at almost 5 p.m. Now what I don't understand is why does the process to get medical attention have to be so tedious. A 20 minute visit with a doctor shouldn't take 8 hours out of your day. It's insane. And what's the reason that the administrative staff at most doctors offices have attitudes? Is it part of the job description? Honestly though, there has to be a better way. This is why people don't go to the doctor when something is wrong because its such a horrible experience. Stay tuned...
